The vast dividing skies we're meant to fly...

It almost seems like yesterday when I first clicked a YouTube video titled 'Firefly' by the Brooklyn-based indie band, Skyhill, composed of Peter Lennox and Dan Avidan, and was transported to the world of intricate harmonies, sweeping melodies and powerful guitar motifs that has remained the soundtrack to my life ever since.
It is the latter man to whom I can thank for discovering this goldmine of music, for through his work with Game Grumps, and the comedy music duo, Ninja Sex party, as well as his wonderful creative spirit, I wanted to learn more about his career as a musician, finding out that he was in fact part of a 'serious' band that has endured in its inspiration to this day, even though the band did not find commercial success back in 2007, which is still the greatest shame.
There was a time of my life just three years ago where I was in a rut of difficult professional exams, my mental health was in a bad place, and I felt that I was not moving forward as I was meant to with my life.
Then I discovered the Game Grumps, and then later on after falling in love with Dan, I discovered Skyhill. It was the kind of music that I had secretly wished for many years, that envoked the spirit of the open road, of possibility, of dreams, and heartbreak.
Sadly, I was almost ten years too late to be able to witness Dan and Peter performing live, but judging from the online communities flourishing on Tumblr and reddit, the love for the band has not waned.
Which brings me to the point of this post, and to this blog. Through various inspirational posts that describe what Skyhill means to fans, and seeing already the boundless creativity that these fans are inherently capable of, I have started a fan project that involves compiling two books of messages, art, poetry, prose, and lyrics for Dan Avidan and Peter Lennox to be sent to them during the Summer.

I will be accepting submissions through that platform as well as through my Gmail: theskyhillproject@gmail.com
This blog is really just a place that I will most likely update semi-regularly to track progress of the project, to post musings about Skyhill's music, and anything else that takes my fancy.
Please follow me on Tumblr or drop me an email anytime with questions or comments, I would love to hear from you.
In the meantime, you can find out more about Skyhill on their website, where you can listen to their music on Spotify, and purchase their music on iTunes:
